Third, while you are working in marketing it can be easy to struggle with the feedback that you get. There are a lot of people that have a hard time realizing that negative feedback is something that comes with the job.

Whether you are receiving complaints from customers, you have clients that are frustrated or your manager tells you to make significant changes on a project, you have to grow thick skin. Negative feedback is a part of marketing that is not going away any time soon.

Finally, the marketing world may seem large but it will seem a lot smaller once you start working within the field. Because of this, it is important that you never burn bridges with people you are working with or people that you are working for.

Take time to write an original cover letter for every job that you are applying for and you may also want to adapt your resume to each position. When you adapt your resume, you should be sure that it is truthful and that you are not misleading.
