Things You Must Do Before Using Concrete Stain Sprayers

By Miranda Hawkins

There will come a time when you want to see something new in your home. You can either remodel some of the major parts or just tweak little sections of the house. If you are aiming for a huge impact but do not want to change to much, you must try to alter the color and texture of your floor. There are others who try to incorporate decorative designs. While others try to go for stains.

Having your flooring stained does not mean that you have to spill something over it to make it dirty. This means that you are going to evenly color it with the use of concrete stain sprayers. This is an effective method to ensure the color of the floor stays for a long time.

If you are a person who is aiming for a more antique look in your place, you must target the floors to incorporate the stain. If you are planning on putting it on other surfaces such as counter tops, you could not say that it will have the same effect compared to those in the floor. There are various elements that makes a difference in every surface that you try to apply it on.

Before you point the sprayer in the surfaces, you have to properly inspect and prepare the floors first. When the surfaces are too old, if you apply the chemical mixture of products in it, it will become more porous. And then it will weaken. The texture is also not too desirable, which is why you have to check.

If you notice that the surfaces are wearing out to much there are two things that you must do. You have to add more concrete on the surface to cover for the worn out ones. The cracks should also be taken care of by adding fillers so that it will be covered effectively.

Oil spills are not to be taken lightly. There are times that they stick to the surface too much. And if you do not inspect it closely, you will miss the oil residue accumulation. This will lessen the effectiveness of the stainer. And if you do not want to have an uneven shade in your floors, you have to see to it that it is removed completely.

One of the products that you have to purchase together with the stainer is a sealant. This is to ensure that your new flooring will be protected from future dangers such as abrasions and spills. This might discolor the surface. There are others who would prefer the glossy finish but this would be up to you.

The step that you must never skip is to clean the entire surface. There should be no sign of oil or any other stain spill. In fact, you have to give more effort and time on the cleaning process than in applying the stain.

You can have the choice of doing the entire process yourself. But you can always call for a professional, if you have no time to do it. There are others who are not so confident with all of it and do not possess the right set of materials to do the work. Although the work of a professional is always an option, you also have to think about the cost that you have to pay. This can be expensive depending on the wideness of the surface that you want covered.
