Refurbished CT Scanners Can Be A Way Of Saving Money With Electronic Assembly

By Stephen Cole

Purchasing a new machine is very attractive because it is guaranteed to work faultlessly and efficiently. However, there are cases whereby buying a new machine is out of the question. Buying a refurbished machine is desirable mostly when a person wants to save money as it may cost less than 50% of the price of a new machine thanks to the electronic assembly. This article discusses things that should be considered before deciding to buy a refurbished CT scanner.

There is a maximum amount of radiation that a human body can tolerate without getting a permanent change in its protein segment (DNA). Mostly, unplanned change in DNA sequence is undesirable, especially if the cause is from radiation. X-ray machines and other scanners release small amounts of radiation to be able to scan a human body, the emission is bearable of course. However, older ones may emit more radiation that may put people s lives in danger.

Another important factor to consider is its processing speed. Some things need to be detected quickly otherwise the patient may die, for example, internal bleeding. A fast scanner is needed to give accurate and quick results were needed. If it is too old then it is probably slow and will be tedious to use, thus, don t buy it.

Buying something that you will probably never use is a waste of money as much as buying something that will not give you what you want is. No person wants to spend money buying more things on top of a big machine that was supposed to come with them. So before buying the scanner, check if it provides the services that you will need and if you can buy a cheaper one that does not come with unnecessary extras.

It is known that purchasing an old machine is cheaper than buying an old one, but other costs should be considered on top of purchasing costs. These costs include maintenance and repair costs. Will a refurbished machine still be the cheaper option after considering the extra costs coming with it? This is something you have to find out before making the final decision.

You need some assurance that should the machine perform below what the manufacturer stated it will perform, measures to cover the matter will not be paid out by you. This assurance comes in the form of a product warranty. However, warranties don t last forever. So the duration of the warranty is an important factor to consider before buying the scanner.

Imagine having to tell your patients to come some other time because the machine is broken and needs repairing parts that will only arrive after 2 months since they were ordered from another continent. People could lose lives and you can lose clients. It is safer to buy one whose parts can be found locally or nearby.

It is not really clear if purchasing a refurbished scanner will save money without considering all the factors mentioned above. There are underlying costs that may arise with time, know them and choose wisely.
