By Diane Snyder

Currently you are reading this article right now because you are in search of a new pet. Just earlier you may have seen an AKC Parti colored Yorkie puppies for sale sign and this has piqued your interest somewhat. But before you do dig into your pockets to buy one, do read on in this article first for some information.

Prior to taking on any pet Yorkie or any pet for that matter, do take an inventory of your readiness to be a good owner and master. Remember that it takes a lot of time and responsibility when one wants to be good owner, and it is a life decision than a passing hobby or fancy. If you are not sure if you can fully commit your full attention and time to a pet, then it is a good idea not to get a pet. Remember that it takes a lot of time and commitment to have a pet of any kind.

Once you have decided that you are pet owner material, the next thing to do will be to find out as much information on your prospective pet. In this case you want to know more about the parti Yorkie you have an eye on and learn about its habits, quirks, and specific guidelines and health issues.

There is no real difference between a regular Yorkie or Yorkshire terrier and a parti colored Yorkie. Both are definitely purebreds and the only difference is that the regular Yorkie has tan and blue color variants while the parti Yorkie has black, white, and tan variants and combinations in between.

As these dogs are purebreds, and also quite popular ones, then do expect prices to be on the steep end. These dogs are by no means in the lower price ranges, as they will set you back USD 1200 to USD1500 for an American Kennel Club registered one. In some regions it can be much higher depending on demand and supply conditions.

Personality wise it can be quite a bossy dog and will be known for its tenacity, feistiness and courage. Although small, it really has all the traits of the larger terrier and may require an owner with a strong personality so that it can be more easily trained. So if you have a meek personality, this may not be really the dog for you.

And despite its apparently small size, it is surprisingly a long lived breed. It has been known to live anywhere from thirteen years to twenty years. It must be taken into account that proper care and nutrition are the factors in extending the lifespan of any breed, Yorkshire or otherwise. These dogs do have sensitive digestive systems, so a lot of care has to be taken in terms of dietary intakes and requirements.

Like any dog, they also have their share of health issues, such as chronic diarrhea, if one is not careful with its diet, and also vomiting. They are easily injured also and are very sensitive to any form of anesthesia, and thus must be kept indoors a majority of the time to prevent any untoward incidents.
