WOSB Registration Creates Opportunities For Women Owned Businesses

By Celeste Osborne

Exciting new contracting opportunities are available to women-owned small businesses! Thanks to the WOSB (Women-Owned Small Business) program, the federal government has set aside prime contracting bids exclusive to those small businesses that are 51% or more owned by women. Here are a few reasons to start your WOSB Registration today!

In order to meet federal contracting mandates, each agency is required to award at least 5% of their contracting budget to women owned businesses. This has resulted in nearly $20 billion awarded to women owned firms in 2013. The same year, over 260,000 individual contracts were awarded to women owned businesses. These same opportunities are available to any contractor that has completed their WOSB Registration.

The only way to gain access to these coveted contract awards is by completing WOSB registration. The registration process for this program is very intense and requires many pages of supporting documentation. Filing the wrong form or omitting important information can lead to problems completing registration or even legal penalties. For these reasons, it is recommended that interested businesses seek help from a third party registration firm rather than attempt the registration on their own.

US Federal Contractor Registration has years of experience helping thousands of businesses complete their WOSB registration, as well as their SAM registration and other necessary paperwork to bid on federal contracts.

To start WOSB Registration and become eligible to bid on WOSB set aside contracts, interested businesses may call the Contractor Hotline at (877) 252-2700 Ext 1. A live Acquisition Specialist will also provide information on any other set aside or contracting programs available that can help give small businesses an edge in the federal marketplace.

US Federal Contractor Registration has helped over 65,000 businesses complete their System for Award Management registration. Their clients include businesses such as McGraw Hill, HP, Wells Fargo, Xerox, GoodWill, Dixie, UPS, Heinz, Sheraton Hotels, Marriott, Westin, Interstate Oil, CITI, and Coldwell Banker; academic institutions and colleges like NYC, Northwestern, Oxford, Southwestern, and Mercer; and numerous federal agencies like US Army, US Navy, Veteran Affairs and United States Department of Agriculture.
