Every person on the Internet makes choices on how they earn or
make money online. This is up to the person. One can make a general
statement that they do make money through the pay-per-click programs
such as: Google AdSense, Kontera and Chikita. Each one does make money
and each one has benefits to it.
The trouble comes from the fact that most websites owners have a timeframe in terms of this income in mind. They have read the success stories found within each of the programs websites and they want to build it up from there.
They do not make what they expect. For some it is because they are not paying much attention to recent developments, or they knew but were not prepared. The rules have changed and they are scrambling. Then, they begin to wonder why their earnings are so poor.
Below is a list of eight reasons why the earnings they have expected from the pay-per-click programs have not materialized they way they have wanted them to.
1) Incorrect ad placement. Most traffic does not stay on a website long enough to scroll down, and having most of the ads below a blog post or the content of the websites' page is a quick way to lose money.
2) Incorrect choices of ads: On most of the PPC sites you have the option of not having certain websites appear on your website. Most do not take advantage of this. By choosing not to show a certain subject you can maximize your earnings on your site.
3) Not professional enough: Having a website which is too bright, or take to long to load means that traffic will go on to another more professional looking site, or a website which will load faster.
4) Too many ads: This is not as much of a problem, but it can be if you are a part of several PPC programs, and then the readers will find it interesting in terms of reading, but has too many ads. There is a fine line between too many ads and not enough ads.
5) Duplicate Content: If it has been found elsewhere, traffic will find it elsewhere. This holds true especially if the duplicated content on your newer websites are found on one of your more established websites. Copying content without permission can get you banned from most PPC programs.
6) Website is down too much: This is a fast way to get de-indexed by the search engines. This means that over time your website will not be found, and what you have once earned is now drying up. This can also happen on revenue sharing sites.
7) Too many broken links: This is a big one where people will look at a page and there are links placed to an article that they have written, which has ads on them but is not there any longer.
8) They have not done keyword research: Everything from a good title, to content which relates to the titles makes more earnings, by not doing keyword research correctly you do not get search engine traffic.
